3. solving your complexity problems

We can also work alongside your managers to remove the complexity problems identified at the diagnosis stage.

Management Information Streamlining Tool™
Increasingly, managers are being overwhelmed by the amount of information that they receive and have to create. Simplicity have developed a tool to investigate and streamline this process.

We understand how management information is created, processed and what it costs. Perhaps most importantly we understand how information is used in an organisation. Where appropriate, we then redesign the process of creating reports, remove any redundant information and fill in any critical information/data gaps.

Advanced Simplification Toolkits™
We have toolkits specific to process, organisation, strategy, and products and services. In addition our team has years of experience in each of these areas. Please explore our what have we simplified page for examples of our work in each of these areas.

Market Driven SKU Rationalisation™
Reducing the number of products or services you offer has some obvious simplifying returns, however most organisations introduce many more new products than the old ones they retire. This is because SKU rationalisation is commonly approached on a marginal contribution basis and it is very difficult to get to an accurate prediction of marginal contribution as it is impacted by substitutability (ie. Will customers who previously bought product A simply buy product B instead or buy a competitors product instead).  Hence pruning is often token and limited to obvious cases.

Simplicity approaches SKU rationalisation from a customer need viewpoint.  By mapping your products against customer need you can see clearly where you are over represented against a particular need.  If you have clusters of products against a particular need the likelihood is that substitutability will be high (ie.  If you remove a product revenue will divert to your other products).

We believe that having a customer need framework from which to consider product retirement gives businesses a clearer view on substitutability and thus the confidence to prune more of the deadwood – resulting in either costs savings or freeing up resource to drive the remaining product set harder
